2004 Badcat Wildcat 40R

Sale Price: £15.00 Original Price: £35.00

My 2004 Sampson-Era Badcat Wildcat from 2004. The WildCat is, in essence, Sampson's take on the AC50 - an EL34 driven AC style circuit designed for the Beatles to help get them louder than their audience. So take an already incredible rare and sought after AC model and combine it with the Matchless heritage and genius of Sampson and you get this absolute gem of an amp. Obviously, despite not possessing the EL84s from the AC30 this amp is without a doubt still "CHIMEY" and I love that sound... but if you can't handle it, Don’t worry luckily there's thousands of other amps out there and whilst I could cut those out with the cut control: I think this amp sounds best untamed!

Perfect for any Vox / Matchless lover looking for a more Hi-Fi sounding AC30 thanks to this amp's EL34 power section yet retaining the infamous Matchless C-30 preamp with original SOVTEK EF86 and Mullard 12AX7s preamp tubes... All mics are going through Cranborne Audio Camdens (the most underrated mic amps of all time) and being summed together on our SSL console and individually mixed per tone via the faders. I spent a decent amount of time making this the perfectly engineered and ultimate BadCat WildCat 40R pack and it sounds as close as most will ever hear to the real thing.

No added EQ or compression other than some very minimal high pass filtering to get rid of any flubby frequencies picked up as and when they occurred. The cabinets used are also two of my absolute favourite cabinets: My early Matchless ESD212-inspired cabinet with a G12H30 Anniversary and a G12M25 Greenback, as well as my Marshall Astoria 1x12 cabinet which has a custom-voiced Celestion Creamback G12H75 with the doping removed. I can tell you from many days and nights tracking here.

These are my favourite set ups, using my favourite mics, through the Studio B at Blue Bell Hill Studios which is one of the best sounding tracking rooms I've ever heard. The result is thick like my 1073s but with the clarity of the SSL console at Blue Bell Hill Studios. The perfect medium. I've engineered and dialled in each capture to present the exact tone we hear in the room.

20 Captures Total (Blended Microphones only).
