If you love Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Whitesnake, John Frusciante or AC/DC. THIS is your absolute holy grail. This is an all original 1978 Marshall JMP 2203 in pristine condition with its matching 4x12 loaded with the ultra-desirable Celestion Blackbacks AKA "Hendrix" speakers AND its original Drake transformers. A collector's dream captured for your playing pleasure. Though I have to admit, when we captured this, I was in a control room and I still wore hearing protection it was so loud - if you've never experienced this level of sound before you have no idea what you're missing. The JMP, for those that don't know, is the model that transitioned Marshall away from their "Plexi" era and towards the model that would become the JCM800... Introducing the first Marshall amplifier with a master volume, the 100W JMP 2203. They featured the same control panel as a JCM800 and mostly the same circuit but are however known for being a little warmer, more forgiving and overall slightly less gain which made them the perfect candidate for early fuzz and overdrive pedals of the time. These amps haven't really been accurately reissued since their inception (other than maybe the Bernie Marsden signature) and I've tried, as per usual, to get the absolute most out of the amplifier just trialling different knob positions and guitars so that you can find your tone easily within the amp with minimal tweaking (if any!) to the capture!
15 different amp settings, each specially engineered per tone at Blue Bell Hill Studios using a Shure SM57 + Royer R-121 into Neve 1073 preamps and our SSL 6000G console for summing.
