This is NOT a reissue. THIS is the real deal. The Holy Grail... not only for fans of John Lennon, REM, Arctic Monkeys, Tom Petty, Rory Gallagher and more but also potentially the holy grail of VOX AC15s themselves. This particular example boasts a vintage alnico blue speaker, EF86 channel as well as a normal channel and dons a beautiful fawn tolex in impressive condition. Despite the AC30 being its bigger brother. The AC15 was in fact the flagship amplifier of VOX during its JMI-era and was the first amplifier Lennon used with his new band The Beatles (whoever they are?) when they would play the Cavern Club in the early 60s. This amp is fiesty, I would say it literally doesn't do a proper clean unless you roll down your volume and that's by design. The guys at VOX wanted an amp that would roar and pioneer the sound of distortion into the 60s. This it did well and the result is a sassy, articulate and "loud enough" box that makes itself heard and KNOWN.
15 different amp settings, each specially engineered per tone at Blue Bell Hill Studios using a Shure SM57 + Royer R-121 into Neve 1073 preamps and our legendary SSL 6000G console for summing.
